50 Customzied Magnets - $2 - InkGarden.com

If you haven't already, check out inkgarden.com, a cool website for creating photogifts & things ("stylish designs you customize").  They run a new promo every month or so for a severely reduced item (or sometimes FREE - all you pay is shipping!).  Right now their promo item is for 50 business card magnets for just $2 (use coupon code MAGNET2) through July 31.  Remember to get creative - these don't have to be for business cards - they could just be a straight picture you upload of your kiddos & give away for Christmas, or as a thank-you from a bday party... ideas are endless!

Also, new members qualify for a MUG for $1 (you pay shipping).

Summer Reading Program at Marion Public Library

Have your kids signed up for the summer reading program at the library yet?  Like many libraries across the country, ours here in Marion has a GREAT summer reading program.  If you haven't signed up already, it isn't too late!  Week 4 starts next week, but you can still catch up and get in on the action.  My kids handed in their weeks 2 & 3 results (you cross off every 15 minutes you read on the packet they provide) yesterday, and were rewarded with a frosty from Wendy's, a free burrito/taco from Taco Bell, and their favorite - a little rubber band toy shooter thing.  There are prizes & coupons every week for reading, and at the end of the summer there is a little party with bigger giveaways.

My kids LOVE the satisfaction of crossing off the icons each time we read.  Yesterday we were short a bit, and our books were due back, so we spent almost an hour reading on our porch swing outside - enjoying the weather, but slowwwing down.  Even when I'm worn our/frustrated by my kids, I always love reading to them as they curl up against me and get fascinated by books.

Have you been to our library?  Have you talked to one of the children's librarians?  They are FANTASTIC!  I go in each week with my kids and say "superheros", "Legos", "Magic School Bus", "Batman", "Superman" (yes, my kiddos are way into super-heros right now), and the librarian finds the greatest books.  My kids LOVE what we come home with.  I highly suggest using your librarian - don't try to just brainstorm by yourself!

In addition to the reading program, the library has "Lunch on the Lawn" every Tuesday (stories with lunch!), crafts, sign-language classes, and more.  Go in and check out their schedule - there is truly something for all ages.  And, make sure to stop by their computers....one of my kids' favorite spots - they have many education games loaded, and an entire resource of additional CD-Rom education games back behind the desk if you ask!
